Jonathan Edwards Visits Castle Hill

We were delighted recently to welcome to Castle Hill the General Secretary of the Baptist Union of Great Britain, Jonathan Edwards. Jonathan was here to lead a Quiet Day for leaders of churches throughout The Heart of England. Focusing on three aspects of God, Jonathan succeeded in combining humility and gentleness with humour and sound biblical insights which helped us to contemplate God as creative and welcoming.
Quiet Day's are a rare treat for many of us but it is important to take time to listen to God and to simply 'be' in his presence. We are, by nature a people who like to 'do' things, who aspire to be active and achieving, sometimes God wants us not to be so active but to allow his Spirit to speak and minister to us.
When was the last time you spent some quiet time simply seeking to listen to God rather than speak to him or urgently expecting something specific from him? Remember the chorus that says 'Be still, for the presence of the Lord, the Holy one is here'. Try it, allow God the space to speak and you will surely benefit.
