Missionary Work

Jesus came to them and said, All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age. (Matthew 28:18-20)

Castle Hill Baptist Church are involved in a variety of mission projects either directly or by support of personnel:
  • Over the last 3 years we have been helping to build a children’s home in Cluj Napoca, Romania. This is a new 24 bed unit in Emanuel Children’s Home, which is a project of Christian Community Ministries. Through this home the charity aims to help former street children to have a safe and loving environment to live and learn about the love of Jesus. Recently 4 different groups of people have travelled out to the home to provide labour for the building work.
  • We are also linked with BMS World Mission personnel Tony & Judith Sykes in India. Tony is a civil engineer and has assisted a number of Christian mission hospitals with development projects. Judith cares for children with disabilities. The couple are based in Nagaland state in north east India.
  • We are also a training church for BMS Action Teams. These are small groups of young people who make use of a gap year to undertake short term mission work around the world. Last year we supported a team working in Thailand and this year our trainees, Hannah, Eve, Sarah, Esther and David will be travelling to Kolkata, India. There they will be involved in social action projects, including mobile schools and other education focused projects for street children.
  • Working with another Action Team will be Castle Hill member David McNee. Dave is travelling to the North eastern Brazil state of Ceará. Here the team will be working alongside Brazilian mission personnel in activities such as Bible Studies, holiday clubs, home visits, street work, PEPE pre-school projects, discipleship and teaching English.
  • Each year, as an expression of thanks to God for our harvest, we support a harvest project overseas, usually through the work of Operation-Agri. This is an organisation that grew out of the Baptist Men’s Movement and is a charity which supports rural and urban development projects in three continents, attacking the basic causes of poverty amongst some of the least fortunate people in the world in Christ’s name. Our 2006 harvest appeal will be directed toward their work in the Congo.
We do recognise that mission work is not exclusively to be undertaken abroad and we consider that all Christians are mission workers wherever they are. To this end we encourage members of the church to take an active part in local projects throughout Warwickshire and indeed the UK.
  • One local charity that we try to offer regular help to is Leamington Christian Mission who provide food, clothing and practical help to the homeless of our local streets. We offer periodic gifts of food and clothing to them throughout the year but again, mainly focused around our harvest giving.
These are just a few of the projects that we are currently involved in, more details are available if you wish to email the Pastor.
